This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of your information when you use the Service and tells you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

We use your Personal Data to provide and improve the Service. We collect, use, and disclose your information as described in this Privacy Policy and, where required by applicable law, only where we have a valid legal basis to do so, including your consent (where consent is required). This Privacy Policy was initially created with the help of the TermsFeed Privacy Policy Generator and has been edited to describe Beth accurately.

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.

Usage Data may include information such as your Device’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the time and date of your visit, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data, kept in server logs for security monitoring and troubleshooting.

What Beth Stores and Why

Beth is a household and life organizer, so most of what we store is what you put in:

Your account: your name, email address, and profile photo, received from Google or Apple when you sign in (Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple are the two sign-in methods), plus the date of birth and gender you enter when you set up your profile. Your date of birth confirms you are old enough to use Beth and is placed on your household calendar as a birthday; your gender is kept with your profile. If you choose Apple’s Hide My Email, we receive the private relay address Apple creates for you instead of your personal email address.

Your household: names, roles, and dates of birth of household members you add, and family information you choose to keep in Beth.

Your calendar and lists: events, times, locations, attendees, to-dos, groceries, recipes, notepads, and subscriptions, including events you import from Google Calendar or calendar files.

Your iPhone calendar, if you sync it: On the iPhone app, if you choose to sync your iPhone calendar, the events on the calendars you pick (which can include calendars from iCloud, Google or other accounts you’ve added to your phone) are uploaded to Beth so they can show in your plan and your daily brief and so Beth’s AI can plan around them. Beth never changes your iPhone calendar. Turning the sync off removes the events from Beth. If you choose to share a synced calendar with your home, the adults in your household can see those events in their Beth plan. You can turn this off per calendar at any time, and turning it off removes the events from their view.

Your journal: personal journal entries. Journal entries are private to you alone — they are protected so only your account can read them, and they are never sent to any artificial-intelligence service.

Your conversations with Beth: chat messages, which are processed by our AI provider to generate Beth’s responses (see “Our Service Providers” below).

Content you share with Beth: emails you forward to your Beth address and photos or documents you upload, which we process to extract dates, lists, and family information.

Your location: weather is based on the city or zip code saved in your profile — Beth does not request your device’s location to show weather. The one place the app asks for device location is the calendar’s location field, where, if you allow it, your approximate coordinates are used to rank nearby address suggestions; they are sent per request and are not stored on our servers. Addresses you type into event forms are stored with those events.

Notifications: your device’s push token and your notification preferences — the daily-brief hour, and whether live notifications and event reminders are on (with your chosen reminder lead time). Beth sends four kinds of push notification, and nothing else: one daily brief per day at the hour you choose; if you turn them on, one batched note when another adult in your household changes something shared; if you turn them on, one reminder before each timed calendar event you’re attending, at the lead time you pick; and, under that same setting, one reminder at the due time of any will-do you give a time. No other push notifications.

Operations data: per-request usage records for our AI features (model, token counts, cost — never the content of your messages) used to control costs and prevent abuse, and app-integrity signals that verify requests come from the genuine app.

What we do NOT do: no advertising, no ad tracking, no analytics SDKs, no selling of your data, no uploading of your contacts, and no background location tracking.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

We use only essential cookies and similar local storage — small files kept on your device that keep you signed in and remember your preferences. If you allow device location for the calendar’s location field, your coordinates are kept on your own device for up to an hour so you are not asked again on every screen. The reCAPTCHA service we use for security sets a _GRECAPTCHA cookie solely for fraud and abuse prevention. We use no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies.

Our Service Providers

We use a small number of service providers to run Beth. Each receives only what its job requires:

Google Firebase / Google Cloud — our infrastructure: sign-in, database, hosting, cloud functions, push notifications, and app integrity. Google processes data stored in Beth only on our instructions, as our data processor under the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum and Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms.

Anthropic — Beth’s AI assistant runs on Anthropic’s Claude API. Your chat messages, and the app context needed to answer them (such as calendar availability and list contents), are processed by Anthropic. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models and automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days. Your journal is never sent to Anthropic or any other AI service.

Google Gemini API — reads photos and documents you upload to extract their contents, server-side only. Under its paid-tier terms, Google does not use this content to train or improve its models and retains logs only temporarily (up to approximately 55 days) for abuse and safety monitoring.

Postmark (AC PM LLC) — receives emails you forward to your Beth address, as our data processor. Postmark retains message content for 45 days before automatic deletion.

Google Calendar API — if you choose to connect Google Calendar, we read your events at your request. Beth’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

OpenWeatherMap — receives the city or zip code saved in your profile per request to return local weather. OpenWeather states it does not collect or store API request parameters or IP addresses.

Google Places — powers address autocomplete in event forms. When you type an address, your query and IP address are sent to Google and handled under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Maps End User Additional Terms.

App integrity (Firebase App Check) — we verify that requests come from the genuine app through Firebase App Check. Our iOS app runs the same web app inside a native shell, so this protection is currently provided by reCAPTCHA on both surfaces — the website and the iOS app alike. ReCAPTCHA collects device and browser information, IP address, and interaction patterns, and sets a _GRECAPTCHA cookie, solely for security, fraud, and abuse prevention. We may move the iOS app to Apple’s device-integrity services (App Attest / DeviceCheck) in a future release, and we will update this policy if we do.

Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — tells us when something in Beth breaks, so we can fix it without you having to report it. When an error happens in the app or on our servers, Sentry receives a description of the error and where in Beth it happened, your device type and iOS or browser version, the version of Beth you are running, and your account’s internal ID so a report can be matched to an account. It also receives a few app-health notes carrying only timings and the sign-in method you use: that a new version of the app opened for the first time, that the app was slow to load, or that it found you unexpectedly signed out. Sentry never receives your calendar, lists, notes, chat messages, journal, household names, or email address. Sentry processes this data as our data processor and keeps it for up to 90 days.

Retention of your Personal Data

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active, because storing your information is the service: your calendar, lists, and household information need to be there when you return.

When you delete your account (see “Delete your Personal Data”), we delete your data within 30 days of your request. Some of our service providers also hold data briefly as part of providing their services: Anthropic automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days; Google’s Gemini API retains logs for up to approximately 55 days solely for abuse monitoring; Postmark retains forwarded email content for 45 days before automatic deletion; Sentry keeps error reports for up to 90 days. We may retain specific records longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes.

Transfer of your Personal Data

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company’s operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in the processing are located. This means that this information may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. The Company will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Delete your Personal Data

You can request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by emailing us at hello@getbeth.app. We will complete deletion within 30 days of your request. (The app does not yet offer an in-app account-deletion flow; until it does, email is the way to ask, and it always works.)

Please note that residual copies of deleted data may persist in our service providers’ encrypted backups for a limited period before being purged on their normal schedules, and we may retain specific information where we have a legal obligation to do so.

Disclosure of your Personal Data

Business Transactions

If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Law Enforcement

Under certain circumstances, the Company may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. A court or a government agency).

Security of your Personal Data

The security of your Personal Data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Our team accesses your data only to operate, support, and troubleshoot the Service, or to fulfill a deletion request.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Beth does not track its users across other websites or services, so there is nothing for this signal to disable; we do not change our behavior based on it.

Children’s Privacy

Beth is a tool for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under the age of 13, and children under 13 cannot create or hold accounts.

Parents and guardians using Beth may enter information about their children (such as names, birthdays, and schedules) as part of managing their household. That information is provided by the adult, belongs to the adult’s household, and is handled like all other household data under this policy.

A teenager aged 13 or older may hold a limited-access account only when invited by their parent or guardian within that household.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information directly, contact us at hello@getbeth.app and we will delete it promptly.

Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page, updating the “Last updated” date at the top, and — for material changes — letting you know via email and/or a prominent notice in the Service before the change becomes effective.
